Meet our Subteams

Our team consists of 4 subteams that work on different aspects of the club. We use intro projects to allow new members to learn about what each subteam does- check them out! Please refer to the intro project linked under which subteam(s) you’re interested in.

Mechanical

We are responsible for designing, building, and physically assembling Tardigrade. We handle creating the structures and mechanisms that let the robot move, manipulate objects, and carry out the competition tasks. We use CAD software and modeling tools to design Tardigrade’s components.

Electrical

We are responsible for power, wiring, sensors and electronics integration. Our job is to make sure that the robot can safely power up, communicate, and control all of its systems.

Software

Perception

We handle the computer vision algorithms that detect objects of interest in the water and estimate our position within the water.

Controls

We develop the software that uses the information from perception to direct the robot in the right direction. This includes controls algorithms, behavior trees, state estimation, and more.

Business

In the business (admin) subteam, we handle everything that goes on behind the scenes to keep the team running. This includes everything from doing paperwork and handling budget spreadsheets to organizing events, maintaining the team’s website, posting on social media, and making t-shirts! In addition, we make all the big decisions that effect the everyday operations of the rest of the team.
